POSITION SUMMARY
The Apprentice Electrician assists other electricians in diagnosing, repairing, installing, testing and maintaining high and low voltage electrical equipment and hard wired and wireless telecommunication systems. This position assists in wiring systems up to 13,000 volts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs basic mathematical calculations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
A valid driver license.
Detail oriented, reliable and self-motivated.
Have a relevant South Dakota state license.
Excellent written, verbal, and telephonic communication skills.
Know OSHA safety guidelines and practices.
Patience when teaching apprentices.
Be able to meet the physical requirements of the job including: Working in confined spaces, heavy physical work; heavy lifting, laying wire, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to or in excess of 75 pounds.
Able to work safely from various heights off ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, and other safe work platforms and areas.
Reliable and consistent attendance.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED certificate.
One year’s experience assisting in electrical work including installation, maintenance, diagnosing, and repair of various electrical systems.
