Sales & Catering Manager - Hyatt Place
POSITION SUMMARY
The Sales & Catering Manager is responsible for revenue generation through the development and execution of group sales, catering and events. This role manages client relationships from initial inquiry through event execution, ensuring a seamless and high-quality experience. The Sales & Catering Manager actively prospects new business, maintains existing accounts and relationships and collaborates with internal teams to meet and exceed revenue goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prospect, solicit, negotiate, and secure new and repeat business to achieve individual and team revenue goals.
- Maximize revenue through strategic upselling, contract negotiation, and creative event and catering solutions.
- Develop and execute monthly SMART sales plans aligned with overall business objectives.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, follow-up, and exceptional service.
- Understand client needs and deliver tailored solutions that exceed expectations and drive repeat business and loyalty.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute events from initial inquiry through post-event follow-up, ensuring all details are accurate and seamless.
- Conduct site tours, client meetings, and pre-event (pre-con) meetings to confirm event requirements and expectations.
- Collaborate with internal departments (Banquets, Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Food & Beverage) to ensure successful event execution.
- Partner with culinary and sales leadership to develop menus and event concepts aligned with client needs and current trends.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, market research, and community engagement.
- Maintain knowledge of market trends, competitor activity, and hotel offerings to effectively position and sell services.
- Maintain accurate and organized client records, contracts, and sales activity using CRM and sales systems.
- Prepare and manage all sales documentation (contracts, BEOs, proposals, reports) in a timely and accurate manner.
- Communicate event details, updates, and changes effectively through BEO meetings and ongoing cross-department collaboration.
- Deliver exceptional guest and client experiences by resolving inquiries and concerns in a timely, professional manner.
- Act as Manager-on-Duty as assigned and support hotel operations, including responding to emergencies as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Represent the hotel professionally within the community and participate in training, meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Indirectly supervises 1-15 employees when the Director of Sales and/or Banquet Captain are not present. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting in interviewing, hiring, and training of team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree preferred in related field; and/or 3-5 years of equivalent experience in Hospitality Sales or related industry. Experience with sales and catering sales systems preferred.
