POSITION SUMMARY
The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems in primarily commercial spaces. This person should be able to test, troubleshoot, and replace electrical components to ensure systems function safely and efficiently. This person must have the experience and willingness to train and mentor apprentice electricians.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Install electrical systems and equipment such as panels, breakers, switches, outlets, lighting fixtures, data cabling, Fire Alarm cabling.
Ability to run small projects, order material, track costs, and communicate effectively with Project Manager.
Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
Be able to work with, teach, and guide apprentices.
Troubleshoot electrical circuits, equipment, and low voltage systems.
Understand and follow company safety procedures and guidelines.
Ensuring that all electrical components meet safety codes and standards, including the NEC, OSHA, and NFPA.
Work as part of a team and communicate well with peers, clients, vendors, and other trades.
Read/interpret plans, blueprints, schematics, and other diagrams.
Provide assistance during emergencies.
May perform work of lower-level electricians.
Ensure quality of your own work and of apprentices.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
Journeyman Electrician License.
Completion of a relevant apprenticeship.
At least 5 years’ experience.
