POSITION SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for building, erecting, and installing, structures, and other fixtures made from wood and other materials to assist with a variety of construction projects. The Carpenter Foreman will be responsible for leading the carpentry crew. This will include training and mentoring apprentice carpenters.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervise a carpentry team. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, and training employees with assistance from human resources; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Ability to understand directions and read blueprints.
Ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately.
Ability to properly care for and use tools of the trade.
Thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods.
Comfortably and safely operate hand/power tools and equipment.
Strong understanding of OSHA requirements and standards.
Attention to detail.
Organizational and time management skills.
Computer literate.
Flexible schedule.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to work well with diverse groups or individuals.
Regular and consistent attendance.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED certificate.
4+ years of experience in commercial or residential carpentry
